I am not sure how much more clear I can be about how this thing is connected. So has is that a problem with the software or device? But when I fire up the software in the office and turn on capture mode, there is a buzzing noise" Sound and picture from the tv and surround sound are fine. "I have the Gamecap HD Pro connected to my XBox360 via HDMI cable. Obviously you are not communicating your problem very well So I apologize if I am coming off a bit snippy. I'm just seriously tired of messing with this thing. I do appreciate you taking the time to try to help out. Like I said, if another device does the same thing, then I'll know for sure that it isn't the device. But that gets a bit complicated because I have all manner of stuff connected in this room. I have no idea if these devices are on the same circuit, as the PC is in one room and everything else is in another. Which is another thing that leads me to believe that the unit itself is defective.Īs far as the extension cord goes, that is a possibility. The situation could be resolved easily if the component cable didn't put out such a crappy picture. However, if the problem was interference on the usb line, then I should get the same buzzing sound when I connect the RGC to the tv and XBox via component cable as well. The USB A to B runs through the wall to a computer in another room, and is 25 feet long. The RGC, XBOX, Television and A/V receiver are all sitting on the same entertainment center, and connected with standard 3ft hdmi cables. The only cable that is of any unusual length is the USB A to B that powers the unit. But since it is an electronic device, hooked (as directed by the manufacturer) to other electronic devices, it is obviously not functioning properly. One imagines it would not make that noise if it were, for example, connected to the toilet in my bathroom. It is connected to the XBox in the room the XBox is in. It's not "only defective in one room of my house". If I buy a different device, from a different company, and get the same result.then the problem is on my end and I will have to either give up on recording my gameplay, or make some kind of major change to the way things are set up. It is possible I simply got a defective unit. But since this decice is designed with the purpose of being connected to a gaming system, a television and a computer simultaneously, one would assume that the manufacturer would assume there might be some electricity around it, and design accordingly. I also understand that the sound I am hearing is likely electrical interference. I spent the better part of 5 years doing cabling and infrastructure. I have owned this XBox and this television and this A/V receiver, all working fine, for more than 5 years. I am not interested in getting a degree in electronics and/or rewiring my house in order to make this device do what it is supposed to do.īy the way, just for informational purposes, I am not an initiate when it comes to these types of things. I just want to plug in a device and record myself playing games, specifically Rocksmith 2014 right now. My best guess is that there is some problem with the RGC's HDMI port, as I do not hear this sound on my television or my A/V unit unless this device is plugged in. Having spent $119 +shipping, and then spending an additional $100+ on "quality" cables in an attempt to eliminate what I assume is electrical interference, I am done. Whether they grant me one or not, I am going to buy a different device from a different manufacturer. I have grown weary of messing with this device, and I have requested a refund. You will also note if you look carefully as the notes pass, that the video and audio are out of synch ever so slightly. If you would like to hear the sound of which I speak it can be heard in the following video which I recorded. I have literally spent the better part of 4 days on my stomach in the floor hooking up cables and unhooking them, trying to find a solution to this problem. However, the colors displayed on the television set are messed up, with everything having a green tint to it. When I switch from HDMI to component cabling the buzz goes away. I have tried every possible combination of cabling solutions. The USB connection from the computer in the office goes through the wall seperating the office from the living room and in to the RGC. Sound from my XBox 360 goes directly to my A/V receiver via optical cable. It is connected to my Mitsubishi DLP television via HDMI. As I said, the RGC is connected to my XBox 360 via HDMI.
